Memento Mori

☠️ Memento Mori

“Remember you will die” isn't morbid to the Stoics — it's a tool. Seneca argued the problem was never that life is short, but that we spend it as if it were endless. This is the same math he was pointing at, just counted out in Mondays.

It is not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it. Life is long enough, and a sufficiently generous amount has been given to us for the highest achievements if it were all well invested. Seneca, On the Shortness of Life
You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think. Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

This isn't meant to be grim — it's meant to be useful. The Stoics didn't dwell on mortality to feel afraid of it; they used it to decide, concretely, what today is actually for. If the number above changed anything about how you're about to spend this Monday, it did its job.
